Rockcastle Murder Victim Identified

(London, Kentucky) - On Friday, July 11, 2003 Doctor Emily Craig with the Kentucky State Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort was able to positively identify the body of a white female found by a jogger in Rockcastle County on Sunday July 6, 2003.

The victim was identified as Karen Taylor age 39 of Lebanon, Ohio in Warren County.

The investigation began on Sunday, July 6 when a jogger discovered a partially decomposed body over the embankment on Hummel Road, approximately 5 miles east of Mt. Vernon in Rockcastle County at approximately 7:30 a.m. who then notified the Kentucky State Police and Rockcastle County Sheriff's Department.

The body was taken to the Kentucky State Medical Examiners office for autopsy to determine the cause of death and identifying the victim. On Tuesday a description was released describing the victim of an apparent homicide.

Information was released to news media throughout the area, which lead to information identifying the victim. The Kentucky State Police in London are now asking for assistance from anyone having information as to the death of Karen Taylor.

Anyone having information is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police in London at 606-878-6622, 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state) or your local law enforcement agency. Detective Gary Lane is continuing the investigation and is being assisted by the Rockcastle County Sheriff's Department.
