Virus Threat Leads KSP to Request Resubmission of E-mail
(Frankfort, Kentucky) - As you are probably aware, Commonwealth of Kentucky e-mail servers were inundated with millions of messages containing variants of the Sobig.F virus during the week of August 18-22.
According to virus filtering companies, Sobig.F is the largest epidemic of a mass-mailed computer virus to date. At its peak, approximately one in every 17 e-mail messages sent worldwide contained the virus. However, the Kentucky State Police saw ratios of infected e-mails at much higher rates.
Due to the avalanche of infected e-mail, and the quarantine steps taken, it is likely that email submissions via the website during the week of August 18-22 were not received by the Kentucky State Police. We apologize for any inconvenience our protective measures may have caused.
If you visited this website and/or attempted to contact the Community Relations branch via email during that timeframe, we ask you to please resubmit or resend your e-mail.
