The Governor's Highway Safety Program Announces Upcoming Enforcement Mobilization at the Kentucky Speedway
Date of News Release: 05/11/2006
(Sparta, KY.) -- Last year, 985 people were killed in Kentucky due to injuries sustained in motor vehicle crashes. Many of these lives could have been spared if the motorists had only worn their seat belts. The Governor's Highway Safety Program will hold a news conference on Saturday, May 13, at 2:00 p.m. (EDT) to officially announce the upcoming back-to-back enforcement events, "Buckle Up In Your Truck" and "Buckle Up Kentucky- It's the Law & It's Enforced."
Intensified traffic enforcement will begin May 14 and continue through June 4, 2006. This statewide effort will coincide with the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign and a campaign in the southeast region that focuses on seat belt use among pickup truck drivers.
The event will be held in the Bluegrass Hall at the Kentucky Speedway prior to the ARCA RE/MAX Series race "Harley-Davidson of Cincinnati" 150. The Kentucky Speedway is located on Highway 35, Sparta, Kentucky.
