Kentucky State Police promotes 11 officers

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) - Gen. Norman E. Arflack, Secretary of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, and Kentucky State Police (KSP) Commissioner Jack Adams participated today in the promotion ceremony of 11 Kentucky State Police troopers. Officers being promoted included one to major, two to captain, three to lieutenant and five to sergeant.

Gen. Arflack praised the officers for their efforts.

"These troopers have dedicated themselves to advancing the mission of the Kentucky State Police," said Gen. Arflack. "I commend the promotional recipients for their commitment to public service and safety."

Commissioner Adams cited the hard work and dedication that troopers must possess to be promoted.

"These officers have dedicated countless hours to training, studying, testing, interviewing and otherwise maintaining the highest standards to take their place as leaders in the Kentucky State Police," said Adams. "I applaud your achievements and challenge you to continue to bring pride to this agency and safe communities to our citizens."

Floyd Hunsaker, a 24-year KSP veteran, was promoted to major. Maj. Hunsaker will be reassigned to the KSP Commissioner's Office from his position as commander of the Employee Assistance Branch.

The two officers promoted to captain were Ricki Allen and Nathan C. Kent. Capt. Allen, a 15-year KSP veteran, will be transferred from Post 2 Madisonville to assume command of Post 16 Henderson. Capt. Kent, a 12-year veteran, will be transferred from Post 1 Mayfield to assume command of the Inspections and Evaluations Branch in Frankfort.

The three officers promoted to lieutenant were Kennith D. Hill, Jeffrey A. Suratt and Brent W. White. Lt. Hill, a 20-year veteran, will be reassigned from Post 15 Columbia to Post 2 Madisonville. Lt. Suratt, a 13-year veteran, will be reassigned from Post 15 Columbia to Post 1 Mayfield. Lt. White, an eight-year veteran, will remain in his current assignment at Post 1 Mayfield.

The five officers promoted to sergeant were Timothy D. Bradley, Scott T. Davenport, Joseph W. Gibson, Matthew A. Jordan and Jerry M. Wise. Sgt. Bradley, a 12-year KSP veteran, will be transferred from Legislative Security to the Driver Testing Branch. Sgt. Davenport, a 20-year veteran, will be transferred from Post 6 Dry Ridge to Post 5 Campbellsburg. Sgt. Gibson, a 12-year veteran, will be reassigned from Post 14 Ashland to Post 15 Columbia. Sgt. Jordan, a 13-year KSP veteran, will be transferred from Post 2 Madisonville to Post 16 Henderson. Sgt. Wise, a 16-year veteran, will remain in his current assignment at Post 12 Frankfort.
