Date of News Release: 01/08/2007
(FRANKFORT, Ky.) - Preliminary statistics* indicate that six people died in six separate crashes on Kentucky's roadways from Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007
All of the fatalities involved motor vehicles and three of the six victims were not wearing seat belts. The seat belt status of one of the victims is not known at this time.

Through Jan. 7, preliminary statistics* indicate that 10 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2007. This is two fewer than were reported for this time period in 2006. Of the 10 motor vehicle fatalities, 6 victims were not wearing seat belts.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
*These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
