Kentucky State Police Promotes 20 Officers

(Frankfort, KY) - The Kentucky State Police announced the promotion of 20 officers at a special ceremony held today at the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort. Three captains, nine lieutenants and eight sergeants were commissioned.

Addressing the new promotees, KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer spoke of the special nature of servant leadership. "It's not about position or skills, but attitude," he explained. "It's a positive attitude that allows one to put aside their own agenda and serve others for the good of the mission or objective. It's more about character than style."

Lt. John M. Bradley was promoted to captain and will serve as commander of KSP Post 10 in Harlan. A 12-year veteran of the agency, Bradley is native of Beattyville.

Lt. Kevin D. Payne was promoted to captain and will serve as commander of the East Drug Enforcement Special Investigations Branch in Lexington. A 24-year veteran of the agency, Payne is a native of Owensboro and a current resident of Frankfort.

Lt. Matthew S. Scott was promoted to captain and will serve as commander of the Facilities Security Branch in Frankfort. A 14-year KSP veteran, Scott is a current resident of Frankfort.

Sgt. Janet L. Barnett was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 1 in Mayfield. A nine-year KSP veteran, Barnett is a native and resident of Eddyville.

Sgt. Glenn T. Dalton was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to the East Drug Enforcement Special Investigations Branch. An 18-year KSP veteran, Dalton is a native and resident of Somerset.

Sgt. Michael T. Kidd was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to the Recruitment Branch. A 10-year KSP veteran, Kidd is a native and resident of Pikevile.

Sgt. Jeffrey S. Medley was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to KSP Post 6 in Dry Ridge. A 12-year veteran of the agency, Medley is a native and resident of Louisville.

Sgt. Bobby D. Murray was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 2 in Madisonville. A nine-year veteran of the agency, Murray is a resident of Slaughters.

Sgt. James C. Shelton was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to KSP Post 14 in Ashland. A 13-year veteran of the agency, Shelton is a native of Ashland and a resident of Grayson.

Sgt. Wesley B. Slone was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 7 in Richmond. A 17-year veteran of the agency, Slone is a native of McKee and a resident of Beattyville.

Sgt. James P. Stephens was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 14 in Ashland. A nine-year KSP veteran, Stephens is a native of Oldtown and a resident of Ashland.

Sgt. Frederick A. Williams, Jr. was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to KSP Post 5 in Campbellsburg. A nine-year veteran of the agency, Williams is a resident of Lawrenceburg.

Tpr. Thomas J. Atkin was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the Supply Branch in Frankfort. A 15-year KSP veteran, Atkin is a resident of Mt. Vernon.

Tpr. Barry S. Bates was promoted to sergeant and assigned to the Criminal Identification and Records Branch in Frankfort. A 10-year KSP veteran, Bates is native of Frankfort and a resident of Crestwood.

Tpr. Cory L. Buckner was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green. A seven-year veteran of the agency, Buckner is a native and resident of Bowling Green.

Tpr. Gregory L. Crockett was promoted to sergeant and assigned to KSP Post 1 in Mayfield. A 12-year veteran of the agency, Crockett is a native of Somerset and a resident of Berea.

Tpr. Sean L. McKinney was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 16 in Henderson. A seven-year veteran of the agency, McKinney is a native of Marion and a resident of Henderson.

Tpr. Jeremy E. Murrell was promoted to sergeant and assigned to KSP Post 5 in Campbellsburg. A seven-year veteran of the agency, Murell is a resident of Winchester.

Tpr. Donald J. Shearer was promoted to sergeant and assigned to KSP Post 14 in Ashland. A seven-year veteran of the agency, Shearer is a native of Louisville and a resident of Banner.

Tpr. Jeremy C. Slinker was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to the Special Operations Branch in Lexington. A 14-year KSP veteran, Slinker is a native of Greensburg and a resident of Richmond.
