Cold Case of Lawrence E. Watkins

On August 18, 1981 Lawrence E. Watkins was driving a coal truck traveling north on KY 15 in the Engle community of Perry County. An unknown subject fired at least one (1) shot into the cab of the truck striking Lawrence Watkins, the truck traveled over a guard rail and down an embankment to coming to final rest partially in a creek.

Lawrence Watkins was transported to the Hazard Hospital and later died as a result of the injuries he received.

To date the perpetrator(s) have not been identified, and brought to trial.
