The Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green are asking for help in solving the murder of Trooper William H. Barrett.

On Sunday, 12/19/1971 at 0011 hours Trooper William Barrett arrived home upon completion of a shift. He was dressed in uniform and in a state police marked car. Upon exiting his car he was shot two times with a shotgun by an unknown offender. He was able to return fire with his service revolver.

Investigators from Post 3 Bowling Green are asking anyone with information regarding the murder of Trooper William H. Barrett to contact Detective Matt Cardwell or Lieutenant Bryan Whittaker.
