Date of News Release: 10/20/2014

(Morehead, KY) -- On October 19, 2014, Officer Dennis Johnson responded to an injury accident involving a commercial vehicle located in the proximity of the Pilot Truck Center in Mt. Sterling. The commercial vehicle was attempting a right turn from the Pilot parking lot, when he crossed partially into the northbound lane of traffic and across the fog line. At this point, Dorothy Richards of Mt. Sterling, who was traveling northbound and did not see the semi in time, struck the driver's side tire of the semi. This caused Ms. Richards to become pinned under the dash of her vehicle. Montgomery County Fire and EMS responded to the scene. After a lengthy extraction process, she was removed and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. The driver of the commercial vehicle is employed by Southern Pride Trucking, Inc. of Stanford, FL. Ms. Richardson's condition is unknown at this time. Officer Johnson was assisted at the scene by CVE Sgt. Doug Stacy, Trooper Nathan Shortridge and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. The collision is still under investigation at this time.
