Fatality Collision on US23 Johnson County

Lowmansville, KY (Johnson County) - The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Divison of the Kentucky State Police is investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred on US23 in Johnson County, on Monday, December 8, 2014, at approximately 2:02pm.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Mr.Terry Henry, of Wellington KY, was operating a 2007 Mack dump truck on Browns Fork, attempting to make a left turn onto US 23, north bound. Ms. Paula Fields and her passenger Orpha Childers, both of Paintsville, KY, were operating a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer southbound on US 23. As Mr. Henry crossed the south bound lanes of travel, Ms. Fields' vehicle made contact with the driver side of the dump truck.

Mr Henry was not injured during the collision. Ms. Fields was airlifed to Saint Marys Hospital in Hunington, WV for injuries sustained in the collision. The passenger, Orpha Childers, was transported by ambulance to Paul B. Hall Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The following collision is under investigation by Kentucky State Police Officer Thomas Gearheart, and was assisted on the scene by Officer Darvin Marsillett and Officer Mark Wallace of the Kentucky State Police, as well as the Johnson County Sheriff Office.
