Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Trafficking Arrest

RICHMOND, Ky. (January 31st, 2017) Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Erik Stallsworth conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan passenger car on Turpin Drive in Richmond. After receiving consent to search the vehicle from the operator, a brown purse was located in the passenger floor board. Kristy N. Whitaker, a passenger in the vehicle from Berea, KY, stated the purse belonged to her and could possibly contain some marijuana. After searching the purse, Officer Stallsworth located two small plastics bags containing possible marijuana, seven small plastics bags containing possible methamphetamine, five used syringes, two cutoff straws, and a set of digital scales. Whitaker was placed under arrest, lodged in the Madison County Detention Center and charged with the following: 1) Trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (Methamphetamine), 2) Possession of marijuana, and 3) Drug paraphernalia (buy/possess).
