Clifford Smith was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
Vine Grove, Ky. (November 20, 2019) — On November 19, 2019, the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Clifford J. Smith, 33, on charges related to child sexual exploitation.
Smith was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering Smith sharing files of child sexual exploitation online.
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Vine Grove on November 19, 2019. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.
Smith is currently charged with three counts of promoting a sexual performance by a minor under 18 years of age. Each count is a Class-C felony punishable by five to ten years in prison. Smith was also charged with thirteen counts of distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor 1st offense and twenty counts of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor 1st offense. Each charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison. Smith was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
