Eleven Die On Kentucky Roadways Last Week (Apr. 1 through Apr. 7)

(Frankfort, KY) -- Preliminary statistics* indicate that 11 people died in nine separate crashes on Kentucky's roadways from Monday, Apr. 1 through Sunday, Apr. 7, 2013.
Two double-fatality, motor vehicle crashes occurred: one in Breckinridge County and one in Estill County. One of the Breckinridge Co. victims was not wearing a seat belt.
One single-fatality, motor vehicle crash occurred in each of the following counties: Adair, Calloway, Madison and Todd. The victims in Adair and Todd counties were not wearing seat belts.
One ATV crash occurred in Pike County. The victim was not wearing a helmet.
Two pedestrians were killed in Jefferson County.
Through Apr. 7, preliminary statistics* indicate that 137 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2013. This is 37 less than reported for this time period in 2012. Of the 119 motor vehicle fatalities, 59 victims were not wearing seat belts. One of the four motorcycle fatalities was not wearing a helmet. The one ATV fatality was not wearing a helmet. Twelve pedestrians have been killed. One fatality involving an animal drawn vehicle has been reported. A total of 26 fatalities have resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol. As of Apr. 7, Kentucky has had 25 days with zero highway fatalities reported during 2013.
