Morehead, Ky. (January 11, 2018) On December 14, 2017, and December 20, 2017, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 8 hosted their annual Shop With A Trooper Program (SWAT). The SWAT program helps children within the Post 8 area who otherwise may not have a chance to enjoy Christmas. The event started with a meal donated by Bo Jangles of Mt. Sterling and then served at the Rowan County Library. After the meal, the children were treated to a shopping spree at the Morehead Wal-Mart. The children had the opportunity to meet and have their photo taken with Santa Claus while shopping. After the event each family was given a ham for Christmas dinner. This year, Kentucky State Police Post 8 was able to host a record number of shoppers with a total of 160 for both nights of the program. Post 8 would like to thank the volunteers and agencies that assisted with shopping with the children. They include Kentucky State Police Post 8 Troopers and families, Mountain Telephone, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Forest Service, Morehead Young Professionals Association, Rowan County Attorney’s Office, Rowan County Detention Center, Department of Corrections, Wolfe County Sheriff Department, Owingsville Police Department and several church members. A special thank you goes to Bo Jangles, the Rowan County Public Library and Wal-mart as well.
