Bowling Green, KY. (August 16, 2020) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 3 Bowling Green has identified the driver of the vehicle from the officer involved shooting earlier today as 37 year-old Joseph D. Compton, of Rockfield, KY. He was located at Greenview Regional Hospital, where he was attempting to seek treatment for a gunshot wound to the shoulder sustained in today’s incident. Compton was treated and released from the hospital where he was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Police Officer). Joseph Compton has been lodged in the Warren County Jail.

Bowling Green, KY. (August 16, 2020) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 3 Bowling Green is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred just before 9:00 AM this morning in Warren County.
The initial investigation indicates that the Bowling Green Police Department responded to a location on W 10th Avenue in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two individuals suspected in the theft. One suspect entered the driver’s side of a silver Ford passenger car and drove the vehicle toward officers, at which time shots were fired. The suspect continued and fled the scene. Both individuals have since been located and are now in custody.
Kentucky State Police Detectives and Troopers were dispatched to investigate the incident. The investigation on going and being led by Detective Wes Medley. More information will be released as it becomes available.
