The operator of the vehicle has been identified as Michael S. Wright, age 41, of Lewisburg, KY.
Elkton, KY (Todd County) – On June 10, 2019, at approximately 6:09 AM, the Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville received a call of a fatal collision that occurred approximately one mile north of Highland Lick Road on KY-181 South.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 1999 Nissan passenger car was traveling southbound on KY-181 S, when for an unknown reason, the operator lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle exited the shoulder of the southbound lane, traveled down an embankment, struck a tree, and caught fire.
The vehicle was only occupied by the operator, who was pronounced deceased on scene by the Todd County Coroner’s Office. The identity of the operator is not being released, pending the Medical Examiner’s confirmation. The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Mark Combs.
KSP was assisted at the scene by the Todd County Sheriff’s Department, Clifty Volunteer Fire Department, Elkton City Police Department, Elkton City Volunteer Fire Department, Todd County Emergency Management, Todd County Chaplain’s Service, Todd County Coroner’s Office, and ComCare EMS.
