Eddyville, KY. (April 29, 2022) – On the evening of Thursday, April 28, 2022, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 was contacted by Lyon County High School and the Lyon County Sheriff requesting assistance with investigating threats made against Lyon County School students.
Initial investigation revealed that a juvenile student at Lyon County High School had made several threats to other students after school had dismissed on Thursday. Troopers conducted a thorough investigation that continued through the school day on Friday, April 29, 2022 including interviews with several students. Through the investigation, it was determined that a juvenile student made threatening statements including specific threats against several individual students.
The 14 year old juvenile suspect was taken into custody by the Kentucky State Police and detained at the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center on the charges of Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree and five counts of Terroristic Threatening 2nd Degree.
The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Clinkenbeard.
Kentucky State Police urges all parents and youth to be attentive to suspicious activity. Suspicious activity and threatening statements should be reported by contacting KSP Post 1 at 270-856-3721 or anonymously at 1-800-222-5555. Citizens may also report tips anonymously through the KSP app. The app is available for iPhone, iPad and Android applications and can be easily downloaded free of charge through Apple and Google Play stores.
