West Paducah, KY. (May 3, 2021) – Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 are investigating a fatal collision in McCracken County that left one person dead and two others injured. Shortly after 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, May 1st, Post 1 dispatch received a call from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office requesting KSP investigate a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of KY 286 and KY 62 in West Paducah. Troopers from the Post 1 Reconstruction Team responded to the collision scene. Initial investigation shows Guillermo Miranda, 20 of Cedar Creek, Texas was traveling east on US HWY 62, operating a 2017 Nissan NV 200. Sanjeev Joseph, 44 of Clovis, California was traveling west on US HWY 62, operating a 2021 Freightliner semi. For unknown reasons, Miranda traveled across the center line into the opposite lane of travel and into the path of Joseph. Joseph attempted to brake, but was unable to avoid colliding with Miranda.
Miranda was pronounced deceased on scene by the McCracken County Coroner’s Office. A juvenile passenger in Miranda’s vehicle was airlifted by Air Evac to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Joseph was transported to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah for treatment of injuries sustained during the collision.
The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Aaron Jestes. Kentucky State Police, Post 1 was assisted on scene by the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, the McCracken County Coroner’s Office, and the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
