The original social media post was misunderstood
Taylorsville, Ky. (February 25, 2019) – On Monday, February 25, 2019, Kentucky State Police responded to a complaint of Terroristic Threatening at the Spencer County High School at 520 Taylorsville Road in Spencer County.
While investigating the Terroristic Threatening complaint on February 25, 2019, Kentucky State Police were made aware of a social media threat, believed to be a possible shooting at Spencer County High School and Waggener High School in Louisville. During the course of the investigation, Kentucky State Police Detectives from Post 12 and the Electronic Crimes Branch determined the threat originated from Staten Island New York. The threats were intended for Tottenville High School and Susan Wagner High School in Staten Island New York. A sixteen year old suspect was placed under arrest in Staten Island.
The original social media post was misunderstood by a Kentucky juvenile who believed the threats were intended for Kentucky schools.
Kentucky State Police were assisted by the FBI, Secret Service, St. Matthews Police Department, Taylorsville Police Department and the Spencer County Sheriff’s Department. This investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police Post 12 Detectives.
