Fountain Run, KY (March 3, 2020) – On February 28th, 2020 at approximately 9:00 P.M. CST Trooper Allen Shirley was patrolling on Main Street in Fountain Run, KY when he initiated a traffic stop on a 1995 Geo Metro for a speeding violation. When Tpr. Shirley turned on his emergency lights the driver of the vehicle accelerated crossing into the path of oncoming vehicles. The driver of the vehicle continued to flee crossing into Allen County and turning onto Celsor Road where he drove through a closed gate and into an open field. The driver of the vehicle continued to flee and ran through a fence and down an embankment where his vehicle could no longer move. 26 year old Aaron Cole of Fountain Run, KY exited his vehicle and attempted to hide under a log. Cole was arrested and charged with speeding 26 MPH over the speed limit, No registration plate, no registration receipt, failure to produce insurance card, reckless driving, wanton endangerment 1st degree (police officer), fleeing or evading 1st degree (motor vehicle) and resisting arrest. Cole was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. Tpr. Shirley was assisted by Officer Ricky Shirley with the Tompkinsville Police Department.
