Lebanon, Ky. (April 28, 2022) – Kentucky State Police investigate a four-vehicle collision involving Troopers on Wednesday evening.
On April 27, 2022 at approximately 5:02 P.M., Trooper Dexter Colvin notified KSP Post 15 that he had been involved in a four-vehicle collision at the intersection of US 68 and Barbers Mill Road in Marion County. The preliminary investigation revealed that Trooper Stephen England, operating a 2015 Dodge Charger, was stopped in traffic behind a 2009 Dodge Charger being operated by Jason Jones, age 39 of Lebanon. Jones was also stopped in traffic behind a 2001 Chevrolet Van being operated by Martin Torres, age 27 of Springfield. Torres was facing eastbound and stopped on US68 waiting to turn left onto Barbers Mill Rd while Jones and Trooper England were stopped behind him waiting in traffic. A 2010 Ford Fusion, operated by Audrey Thompson, was traveling eastbound on US 68 and approached the other vehicles stopped in traffic. Thompson was unable to stop before colliding with the rear of Trooper England’s vehicle. England was then pushed forward, striking Jones in the rear who was pushed forward, striking Torres in the rear.
Trooper England and his passenger, Trooper Colvin, were transported to Springview Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Jones and his passenger, Autumn Powell, age 34 of Lebanon, were transported to Springview Hospital by Marion County EMS for non-life threatening injuries. Torres was arrested and charged with no operator’s license and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance. Torres was lodged in the Marion County Detention Center. The collision investigation is ongoing by Sgt. Rufus Shearer. KSP was assisted at the scene by Lebanon Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County EMS and Marion County Rescue.
