Two Children Injured; Driver Charged with DUI
BEAVER DAM, Ky. (January 16, 2019)—Kentucky State Police arrest a Lexington man after being involved in a single-vehicle injury collision and later found to be intoxicated.
Nathan A. Stevens, 43 of Lexington was traveling on the Western Kentucky Parkway around 5:15pm and attempted to exit onto the William Natcher Parkway via northbound ramp. Stevens lost control of his 2012 Dodge Ram truck and struck a guardrail before turning over in a ditch at final rest. Two children where inside the vehicle. A five year old child and an eight month old baby were both injured and transported to Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. The eight month old baby was not secured and was ejected from the seat. The baby was located on the floorboard under the front passenger seat of the truck.
Stevens was determined to be under the influence and arrested. The two children were treated and Cabinet for Health and Family Services released the children to their mother.
Stevens was charged with:
1) Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence with Aggravating Circumstances-1st Offense
2) Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (two counts)
3) Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle
4) Assault 1st Degree (two counts)
5) Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (two counts)
6) Failure to Use Child Restraint Device
7) No Insurance
Stevens was transported and lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center in Hartford.
