Diamond, KY (Webster County) – On April 30, 2018 at approximately 11:01 AM, Trooper William Braden initiated his emergency equipment to stop a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 for speeding in the Diamond community.
The operator, later identified as Jeffery Thompson, 30, of Wheatcroft, failed to yield to Trooper Braden’s emergency equipment.
Mr. Thompson continued to flee in his vehicle until turning into a residential driveway on Bill Dorris Road and accelerated into a field. Mr. Thompson then stopped his vehicle and continued to flee on foot. The vehicle was also occupied by two passengers, Chaz Rodney and Tonya Whitten, which Trooper Braden detained. The two passengers cooperated in the investigation and were not charged.
Shortly after fleeing on foot, Clay Police Department and Webster County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate and apprehend Mr. Thompson without incident.
Trooper Braden arrested Jeffery Thompson and lodged him in the Webster County Detention Center where he was charged with the following:
1) Speeding 12 MPH Over Limit
2) Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
3) Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (On Foot)
4) Wanton Endangerment- 2nd Degree
5) Failure to Wear Seat Belts
6) Reckless Driving
7) Resisting Arrest
8) No Registration Plates
9) Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License
