Kentucky State Police received a complaint of an accident with injuries on the Pennyrile Parkway in Christian County.
Mannington, KY (Christian County) – On July 9, 2018 at approximately 9:56 AM, the Kentucky State Police received a complaint of an accident with injuries on the Pennyrile Parkway in Christian County.
Preliminary investigation revealed Brenda S. Kirksey (41) of Benton, KY, was operating a 1999 Blue Honda CR-V southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway in the left lane. Michael Perdue (43) of Providence, KY, was traveling southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway behind Ms. Kirksey in a Beige 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Mr. Perdue glanced away from the road as Ms. Kirksey slowed to make a U-turn. Mr. Perdue’s vehicle struck the rear of Ms. Kirksey’s Honda which spun into the median. Mr. Perdue’s vehicle continued south where it came to final rest in the emergency strip.
Both operators were extricated by Christian County Rescue Squad and transported by Christian County EMS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A small canine was traveling in the Honda, and succumbed to injuries sustained during the accident.
