Horse Cave, KY. (February 16, 2021) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating a collision that occurred this morning on Interstate-65 in Hart County. The collision resulted in one fatality and two troopers being treated for injuries.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that KSP responded to a non-injury collision on I-65 near the 59 mile marker northbound at approximately 6:30 AM this morning. Units arrived on the scene of a commercial vehicle that was blocking two of the three lanes on I-65. While at the scene, two Troopers were parked with emergency equipment activated behind a tow truck that was removing the commercial vehicle. At approximately 8:00 A.M. a 2015 Volvo operated by 23 year-old Maninder Singh of Richmond, NY, was traveling northbound in the center lane of travel when the operator lost control of his vehicle. Singh’s vehicle struck both of the KSP cruisers, the tow truck and the initial commercial vehicle it was removing, and another commercial vehicle in the right lane of travel. Singh was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Hart County Coroner. The two Troopers were transported to TJ Samson Hospital where both were treated for minor injuries and later released.
The investigation remains ongoing by KSP. KSP was assisted on the scene by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, Hart County Coroner, Hart County Emergency Management, Horse Cave Fire Department, Munfordville Fire Department and Department of Transportation.
