Elizabethtown, KY. (January 28, 2019) –Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 4 traffic stop leads to drug arrest on I-65. On January 27, 2019 at approximately 12:55 PM EST, Trooper John Adams, while on routine patrol, observed a northbound vehicle speeding near the 94-mile marker of I-65. After making contact with the occupants, Trooper Adams noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and KSP Post 4 troopers located cocaine and various pills believed to be ecstasy. The driver, Deqontay L. Dunnaway (30) of Frankfort, was arrested and charged with speeding, operating on suspended/revoked operator’s license; trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree drug unspecified; trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree cocaine; possession of open alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle, improper lane usage and drug paraphernalia. Dunnaway’s passenger, Adria B. Shouse (26) of Frankfort, was arrested and charged with trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree drug unspecified; trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Both Dunnaway and Shouse were lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Clayton Ellis.
