HODGENVILLE, Ky. (December 14, 2022) – Through the course of the reconstruction investigation it was revealed Shelton did not pull out of Malcolm Drive but had been traveling southbound on Greensburg Road leading up to the collision. It was also discovered that Perkins had been passing multiple cars in a non-passing zone.

HODGENVILLE, Ky. (December 13, 2022) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a two-vehicle fatal collision in Larue Co. Monday afternoon.
On December 12, at approximately 4:58 P.M. EST, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Larue Co. Dispatch requesting assistance in investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision near the intersection of Greensburg Road and Malcomb Drive.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 1995 Ford Escort operated by Charles Perkins, age 41 of Buffalo, was traveling north on Greensburg Road when he attempted to pass several vehicles in the southbound lane. A 2022 Hyundai Tucson being operated by Brittany Shelton, age 31 of Magnolia, turned right off of Malcolm Drive onto Greensburg Road and into the path of the Perkin’s Escort, causing a head-on collision.
Perkins was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Larue Co. Coroner’s Office. Shelton was treated at the scene by Larue Co. EMS for minor injuries.
The affected portion of Greensburg Road was closed for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Larue Co. Sheriff’s Office, Laure Co. EMS, and the Larue Co. Coroner’s Office. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Tpr. Jesse Harp.
