Leitchfield, KY. (September 3, 2019) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 4 Troopers responded to a single vehicle collision Saturdayafternoon in Grayson County. On August 31st at approximately 3:09 P.M. CT, Trooper Brandon Brooks notified KSP Post 4 that he was in route to assist the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office on a single vehicle collision at the 111 mile marker on the Western Kentucky Parkway in GraysonCounty. The preliminary investigation revealed, Jordan Cates (24) of Leitchfield, was traveling west on the WK Parkway near the 111 mile marker in a 2000 Ford F250 when the driver’s side front tire blew out. As a result, Cate’s vehicle crossed the median and went airborne before entering the eastbound lanes and striking a guard rail resulting in Jordan Cates being ejected from the vehicle.
Cates and a passenger, Ethan Cates (18) of Leitchfield, were flown to the University of Louisville Hospital for life threatening injuries. A 16 year old female passenger was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center and later transported to University of Louisville for non-life threatening injuries. Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkson Police Department, Leitchfield Fire Department and Grayson County EMS.
