Sparta, Kentucky (December 01, 2020) – On November 30, 2020 Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg received a call in reference to an injury accident on Interstate 71 near the 55 mile marker. Troopers responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Mohamed Kassem, a 26 year male from Paducah, Kentucky lost control of his vehicle due to snowy road conditions. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with an unoccupied commercial vehicle parked on the emergency shoulder. Mr. Kassem was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital. On December 01, 2020 KSP Post 5 Campbellsburg was notified that Mr. Kassem had succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.
Toxicology is pending at this time. The investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 5 reconstruction team. Kentucky State Police was assisted by Gallatin County EMS, Gallatin County Fire, and the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office.
