CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (04/28/2022) – Interstate 71 southbound in the area of the 26 mile marker which had been closed since the previous night due to a multiple vehicle collision is now open.

CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (04/28/2022) – The collision on Interstate 71 near the 26 mile marker in Henry County last night continues to have the southbound lanes closed while crews are cleaning the area. At this time it is estimated the closure will be approximately two(2) more hours.
A detour has been in place to avoid the area. The detour is set up at exit 28 onto Highway 153. From Highway 153 the route continues to Highway 42 west. Follow Highway 42 west into Oldham County. Interstate 71 southbound can be reentered at exit 22 in Lagrange.

CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (04/28/2022)- On Wednesday April 27, 2022 Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg received a call at approximately 9:33 p.m. in reference to a collision on Interstate 71 near the 26 mile marker. Kentucky State Police Troopers and other personnel responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation determined that a tanker truck was stopped on Interstate 71 southbound near the 26 mile marker in the left lane due to traffic conditions. A red Ford passenger car was traveling south behind the tanker truck attempting to slow to a stop. A third vehicle, a semi truck, which was also traveling south struck the Ford in the rear of the vehicle causing it to exit the roadway. The semi continued traveling south until striking the tanker truck.
The tanker truck caught on fire. The semi became fully engulfed in flames. Occupants of the Ford passenger car were transported to the hospital for possible injuries. Interstate 71 southbound continues to be closed between exit 28 and exit 22 while crews are still working to clean the area.
Kentucky State Police were assisted on scene by Campbellsburg Fire Department, Henry County EMS, Lake Jericho Fire Department, Henry County Emergency Management, Lagrange Fire Department, Ballardsville Fire Department, Oldham County Hazmat Response Team, and Oldham County EMS.

CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (04/27/2022) –Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg is currently investigating a collision involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 71 southbound near the 26 mile marker. The initial call was received at approximately 9:33 p.m. First responders and other personnel are still on scene at this time. The interstate will be shutdown as a result of this collision for an extended period of time.
This is an ongoing investigation that is being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 5.
