Cynthiana, KY. (March 31, 2020) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 6 in Dry Ridge, is conducting a death investigation following the discovery of human remains in Harrison County.
The initial investigation indicates KSP Posts 6 was contacted just after 6:30 pm yesterday, by the Harrison County Sherriff’s Office regarding possible human remains located in the city limits of Cynthiana. The Kentucky State Police, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, and Cynthiana Police Department responded to the area of River Road in Cynthiana. As a result of the search, human remains were located and taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy and identification.
An autopsy was performed today and the human remains were identified as David Scott Whisman, 31- years-old of Cynthiana, KY, who was reported missing to KSP on October 7th, 2019. After disappearing in early October, Post 6 Detectives and Troopers followed up on all leads and tips over the following months. No additional information is available for release at this time. More information may become available as the investigation continues.
The ongoing investigation in being led by KSP Post 6 Detective, Joseph Filiatreau. He was assisted by KSP personnel, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Cynthiana Police Department, and the Harrison County Coroner’s Office.
