RICHMOND, Ky. (September 9. 2022) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) held its annual sworn awards ceremony in Lexington to honor 75 troopers and officers who put on a uniform each day to patrol Kentucky’s neighborhoods with a mission of serving and protecting their fellow citizens. The achievement awards presented were for acts of bravery and service that occurred in 2021.
During the ceremony, KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. recognized the agency’s troopers and officers for going beyond the mission of KSP in 2021 to protect and serve the citizens of the commonwealth by responding to two historic natural disasters, running into unthinkable dangers, assisting with the continued fight against the deadly drug epidemic and answering thousands of calls for service.
Nine troopers and officers from the Post 7 area were included in those honors.
Senior Trooper John O’Dea was named 2021 Post 7 Trooper of the Year and received the KSP Lifesaving Medal. Trooper O’Dea is a 6-year veteran of KSP assigned to Post 7 Richmond.
Detective Charles Bowling was named 2021 Post 7 Detective of the Year. Detective Gaby is a 12-year veteran of KSP assigned to Post 7 Richmond.
Officer Logan Lynch was named the 2021 Central Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) and Jason Cammack Officer of the Year for the KSP CVE Troop. Officer Lynch is an 8-year veteran of KSP assigned to the CVE Central Region.
Sergeant Jason Denny received the KSP Citation for Meritorious Service. Sergeant Denny is a 17-year veteran of KSP assigned to the Special Operations Branch.
Sergeant Tye Chavies received the KSP Citation for Bravery. Sergeant Chavies is an 11-year veteran of KSP assigned to the East Drug Enforcement and Special Investigations Unit.
Sergeant Toby Coyle received the KSP Citation for Bravery. Sergeant Coyle is a 22-year veteran of KSP assigned to Post 7 Richmond.
Trooper Toney Allen received the KSP Citation for Bravery. Trooper Allen is an 18-year veteran of KSP assigned to Post 7 Richmond.
Senior Trooper Jordan Grevious received the KSP Lifesaving Medal. Trooper Grevious is an 8-year veteran of KSP assigned to Post 7 Richmond.
Trooper Scott Townsley received the KSP Citation for Bravery. Trooper Townsley is a 7-year veteran of KSP assigned to Post 7 Richmond.
Post 7 Commander Shane Wall said he is proud of the commitment and efforts of these units.
“The Troopers and Officers receiving awards this year were involved in incidents or demonstrated abilities that were exceptional. All of these Troopers and Officers are assets to the communities that Post 7 serves and I congratulate them on their achievements.”
