Update: Marvin Ratliff has been charged
Morehead, KY (October 4, 2019) —On Wednesday, April 20, at 11:11 a.m., Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a call from Salt Lick Deposit Bank in Bath County reporting an armed robbery at the bank.
An unidentified white male entered the bank and demanded cash from the teller, brandishing a handgun.
The teller complied with his request, placing cash and two red dye packs in the bag the suspect handed to them. The suspect exited the bank on foot as the two dye packs exploded.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 50 years old, 5’10 to 6’, salt and pepper hair and slender build. He was wearing blue jeans, a long sleeve blue denim shirt, a blue and white University of Kentucky baseball cap that has “Wildcats” on the front and gold-rimmed glasses. The suspect may have red dye stains from the dye packs on his person and clothes.
On Friday, October 4, 2019, Marvin Ratliff, Age 62 of Whitley City, Kentucky was arrested and charged with Robbery 1stDegree in connection to the bank robbery. Recently, new information led detectives to locate and arrest Mr. Ratliff. At the time of the robbery in April 2011, Mr. Ratliff was a resident of Rowan County. Mr. Ratliff is lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center. The investigation remains under investigation by KSP Post 8 detectives.
