The case remains open and under the investigation of Detective Kevin Newsome

Virgie KY (January 29, 2019) Kentucky State Police Post 09 have opened a death investigation with one fatality involved in a structure fire.

Just after 3:00 PM, Post 09 received a 911 call reporting a structure fire on Scotts Bottom Road, and possibly someone inside the residence.

Shelby Valley Fire Department, the State Fire Marshal’s office, KSP Detective with Post 09 Arson investigator, and the Pike County Coroner Russell Roberts responded to the scene. After the fire was extinguished and a search of the structure was conducted. An unidentified male was located inside the residence deceased.

An Autopsy was scheduled for January 30, at this time no foul play is suspected. The case remains open and under the investigation of Detective Kevin Newsome
