This crash remains under investigation by Detective Merlo
(Nippa, KY)– November 6, 2018 Kentucky State Police received a request for reconstruction of a two vehicle crash on US 23 from the Johnson County Sheriff’s office, Kentucky State Police are now on the scene.
Troopers and a reconstruction unit were dispatched to the scene at that time. Upon the arrival of the Troopers it was discovered a Pike County Sheriff’s office vehicle and a passenger car was involved in the crash.
The Sheriffs vehicle was occupied by one male and one female deputy, there was also a female being transported to another facility in the back seat. The second passenger vehicle is believed to have been occupied by two or three people, one of the people in this vehicle was pronounced deceased due to injuries from the crash.
The names of the occupants in the vehicles will be released pending notification of the next of kin.
This crash remains under investigation by Detective Merlo from Post 09. Further details will be released as they become available.
Traffic will be stopped and very slow for the next several hours, everyone is urged to avoid the area if possible and use extreme caution while in the area.
