Ivel, Ky. (March 08, 2023) – Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post was notified by Floyd County Sheriff’s Office of a fatal collision on March 06, 2023, at 8:10 p.m. The collision had occurred on US 23 in the Ivel community of Floyd County. Troopers from Post 9 responded and began the investigation.

The initial investigation indicated Nathan Egler, 26 years old of Evansville IN, was operating a 2014 Toyota RAV4 on US 23, when James Boyd, 65 years old of Garrett, walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck by the vehicle. Boyd was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.  The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Reconstructionist, Detective Joshua Scott.

Detective Scott was assisted by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Allen Volunteer Fire Department, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
