PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (May 16, 2023) – Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post was requested by Prestonsburg Police Department to investigation a fatal collision on May 13, 2023, at 11:03 p.m. The collision had occurred on Kentucky Route 114 in the Prestonsburg community of Floyd County. Troopers from Post 9 responded and began the investigation.

The initial investigation indicated Jerad Montgomery, 42 years old of Hi Hat, was operating a 2012 KIA Sorento on Kentucky Route 114, when Dewey Lewis, 36 years old of Prestonsburg, walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck by the vehicle. Lewis was pronounced deceased on scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Reconstructionist, Trooper James Cress.

Trooper Cress was assisted by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Prestonsburg Police Department, Middle Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
