Pikeville, KY. (May 31, 2022) – Kentucky State Police has identified the deceased as Gordon McKinney, 54 years old, of Harold KY. The investigation into the cause of death is still ongoing.

Prestonsburg, KY. (May 27, 2022) – Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post is conducting a death investigation after an unidentified body was located in the Prestonsburg area of Floyd County. KSP Pikeville Post received a call from Prestonsburg Police Department on Wednesday May 25, 2022 just after 3 p.m. advising a deceased human body had been located.

KSP investigators responded to the area. The preliminary investigation revealed that emergency personnel located an unidentified body in the Levisa Fork River. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification. The cause of death is still under investigation.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Detective Mark Branham. Detective Branham was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Prestonsburg Police Department, and Prestonsburg Fire Department.
