Plea Agreement Reached in Bourbon County Circuit Court Clerks Office Criminal Investigation

(Dry Ridge, KY) - On Thursday, September 13th, 2007, Whitney Jones, the former Chief Deputy in the Bourbon County Circuit Clerks Office, entered an Alford plea in Bourbon County District Court. This plea was a result of her indictment on January 30th, 2007 for one count of Official Misconduct 1st Degree.
Official Misconduct 1st Degree is a Class A Misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum of 12 months in jail and a maximum fine of $500. The agreement stipulated a penalty of 6 months in jail, conditionally discharged for 18 months. Ms. Jones was also responsible for court costs.
Ms. Jones was indicted at the same time as Sherry Rankin, the elected Circuit Court Clerk for Bourbon County. Sherry Rankin was convicted of 2 counts of Official Misconduct 1st Degree on July 23, 2007, by a Bourbon County jury.
The convictions and plea agreement are the result of an investigation conducted by State Police Detectives from Post 6, Dry Ridge.
