Theft investigation and arrest in Laurel County

(London, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, July 05, 2011 at approximately 02:00 AM, while on routine patrol KSP Sergeant Steve Walker and Laurel County Constable Denver Mays observed two individuals stealing property from an unoccupied residence located on KY1223 South in the North Corbin area of Laurel County.

Michael Shane McCormick, 27, of Corbin, KY and another unidentified individual were observed taking electric cable from the residence.

Sergeant Walker arrested McCormick on the charges of: Driving Under the Influence, Operating on Suspended Operators License, Failure to Illuminate Headlamps and Burglary 2nd Degree.

A second, unidentified suspect is still being sought in connection with the incident.

Sergeant Walker is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by Laurel County Constable Denver Mays.
