Clay City Volunteer Fire Department Chief arrested

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On February 2, 2011, Kentucky State Police In Morehead received a complaint concerning the misuse of funds, fraudulent spending, and a possible stolen Clay City Fire Department truck. Through Investigation, Trooper Rollins, determined a 1980 Ford Fire Truck had been unlawfully sold by a member of the Clay City Volunteer Fire Department. Through subpoena of the Clay City Fire Department's bank accounts, Trooper Rollins and the Clay City Police Department discovered theft of department funds and copies of forged and fraudulent receipts. An arrest warrant was issued for Richard E. Rogers, who serves as Clay City Volunteer Fire Department Chief. Mr. Rogers was arrested without incident at the Powell County Sheriff's Department. A separate case concerning the missing Ford Fire Truck will be presented to the next meeting of the Powell County Grand Jury. The case remains under investigation by Trooper Britt Rollins.
