Felony Arrest in Rowan County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On March 11, 2011, at 9:47 PM, Trooper Michael Wathen initiated a traffic stop on US 60 at the Rowan County and Carter County line on a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville. The vehicle was operated by Corey R. Brown of Olive Hill, Kentucky. Trooper Wathen detected the smell of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. Passengers inside the vehicle were Anthony McQuaid Jr. of Olive Hill and Ashlee Matthews of Grayson. Located inside the vehicle were a small plastic bag containing marijuana, two syringes, rock salt, drain cleaner, batteries, coffee filters, aluminum foil, Coleman fuel, and plastic Ziploc baggies. Mr. Brown was charged with Careless Driving, Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Meth Precursor 1st Offense, Unlawful Distribution of a Meth Precursor 1st Offense. Mr. McQuaid was charged with Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Meth Precursor 1st Offense, and Unlawful Distribution of a Meth Precursor 1st Offense. Ms. Matthews was charged with Unlawful Possession of Meth Precursor 1st Offense. Trooper Scott Caudill arrived on scene and assisted in the investigation. All subjects were lodged at Rowan County Detention Center. The case remains under investigation by Trooper Wathen.
