Fire Investigation and Arrest in Rowan County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police Detective Shane Barnes presented an investigation to the Rowan County Grand Jury concerning two separate fires that occurred in Rowan county on October 15th and October 17th 2010 at 105 Thomas Lane Morehead, Kentucky.

During the investigation Det. Barnes received information that Delma Sartin had intentionally destroyed her residence to collect insurance benefits. Additionally, Ms. Sartin was charged with nineteen counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st degree in relation to the nineteen Morehead firefighters who responded to and extinguished the fires at her residence.

Further investigation revealed two additional offenses of Fraudulent Insurance Acts and an additional offense of Perjury 1st degree. On Friday June 17, 2011, the Rowan County

Grand Jury returned indictment warrants on Sartin. Sartin was arrested by Det. Shane Barnes on June 17, 2011 and lodged at the Rowan County Detention Center.
