DUI injury collision on US 460 in Menifee County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On Friday November 11, 2011 at 1:21 AM Kentucky State Police Trooper Jason Brown was on routine patrol when he noticed steam coming from a Chrysler PT Cruiser sitting on the eastbound side of US 460 in Menifee County. After further investigation Darrin Hostetler, a passenger in the vehicle advised Trooper Brown that Rita Lane had been operating a 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser westbound on US 460 in Menifee County. Ms. Lane had crossed the center line entering the eastbound traffic leaving the roadway onto an embankment striking a pole, a wooden sign, mailboxes and a metal garbage bin. The vehicle came to a final rest on the eastbound shoulder. Mr. Hostetler and Ms. Lane were both airlifted from the scene and transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center, they are both listed in critical condition. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Jason Brown.
