(Frankfort, KY.) -- On Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 10:03 p.m. Tpr. Brian Smith attempted a traffic stop on US 60 west of Versailles, KY, on a vehicle for failure to dim headlights. When Tpr. Smith approached the vehicle on foot the driver Cody Huddleston age 19, of Versailles, KY, sped away.
Huddleston refused to stop his vehicle and a pursuit began. The eluding vehicle traveled over 25 miles of roadway in Woodford County. It started on US-60 west of Versailles onto Camden Dr, McCracken Pike, Steel Road, US-62, Falling Springs Rd, KY-33 and onto eastbound Blue Grass Parkway. The eluding vehicle exited the Blue Grass Parkway and traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes of US-60 toward Versailles.
Tpr. Smith used legal intervention to get the eluding vehicle stopped to prevent a head on collision with other eastbound vehicles. The eluding vehicle lost control and came to final rest in a ditch on the southbound side of US-60. Huddleston ran from his vehicle and a foot pursuit begins. A very short time later Huddleston was arrested in a field on the south side of US-60 in Versailles.
He is facing numerous charges, Speeding, Failure to Dim Headlights, Reckless Driving, Disregarding Traffic Control Device, Disregarding Stop Sign, Disregarding Compulsory Turn Lane, Operating on a Suspended License, DUI, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Trespassing 2nd, Criminal Mischief 1st, Improper Passing, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Fleeing or Evading 1st (vehicle), Fleeing or Evading 1st (on foot), Wanton Endangerment 1st. He was lodged in the Woodford County Detention Center.
