Date of News Release: 03/25/2013

(LONDON, KY.) -- On Monday, March 25, 2013 at approximately 5:05 p.m., the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report of a multiple vehicle traffic crash, with injury, on I-75, 7 miles south of Williamsburg in Whitley County, KY.

Upon arrival Trooper Duane Foley determined that a green, 2000, Ford, Explorer, SUV operated by Tyler L. Armacost, 27, of Franklin, IN was traveling northbound on I-75 when it entered the center median, crossing to the southbound lanes and striking a silver, 2013, Peterbilt, tractor/trailer, operated by Glen Prouty, 48, of Galesburg, MI, in the rear trailer tandem wheels. The Ford Explorer then entered the path of a white, 2007, International, tractor/trailer, operated by Donald E. Adcock, 42, of Pittsburg, TN, and was struck broadside.

Armacost, who was seat belted at the time of the crash, was ejected after the vehicle seat belt ripped apart and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner.

Armacost is suspected to have been driving impaired by drugs.

Prouty was taken to the Jellico Hospital for precautionary reasons. Adcock was taken to the Jellico Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.

Trooper Foley is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Whitley County Sheriff's Office, the Whitley County Coroner's Office, the Whitley County EMS and the South Whitley Fire Department.
