Update: Burglary Investigation and Arrest in Whitley County

(LONDON, KY.) -- The second suspect from the Burglary on Monday, September 09, 2013 has been identified and arrested, as a result of Trooper Ryan Loudermilk's investigation.

Arrested was: Michael L Loudermilk, 26, of Somerset, KY he was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Burglary Investigation and Arrest in Whitley County

Date of News Release: 09/09/2013

(LONDON, KY.) -- On Monday, September 09, 2013 at approximately 2:56 PM, Trooper Ryan Loudermilk was on patrol on US Highway 25, two miles south of Corbin when he observed two male subjects fleeing from a residence with one of them carrying a pillowcase. Trooper Loudermilk also observed an older male subject, later identified as the home owner, chasing the two men.

Trooper Loudermilk then exited his patrol car and chased the male subject carrying the pillowcase. The second male subject saw Trooper Loudermilk and fled in the opposite direction. Trooper Loudermilk caught up with the subject carrying the pillowcase and discovered several suspicious items inside it.

The home owner identified the items in the pillowcase as being his, electronics and jewelry, along with two handguns and a long gun that had been dropped on the ground during the foot chase.

Arrested was Justin R. Cornett, 23, of Woodbine, and charged with Burglary 1st degree, Prescription drugs not in a proper container and Resisting Arrest.

After a search of the area by canine, the second male subject was not located. If anyone has any information regarding the male subject that got away you are urged to contact Kentucky State Police Post 11, at 606-878-6622.

Trooper Loudermilk is continuing the investigation and was assisted at the scene by KSP Sergeant Lafe Owens, Trooper Mike Witt, Officer Toby Curry, Officer Steven Douglas and the Corbin Police Department.
