Multi County Pursuit and Subsequent Arrest

(LAWRENCEBURG, KY) -- On April 08, 2013, at 0939 am, a Trooper observed the driver of a 1991 Beige Ford Taurus operating without a seatbelt. The vehicle was traveling southbound on US 127, approximately 3 miles south of Lawrenceburg, KY. Upon stopping the vehicle, the Trooper was informed the driver had an active arrest warrant. When the Trooper attempted to initiate an arrest, the subject resisted, fleeing from the scene at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued into Mercer County, covering approximately 40 miles.

The eluding vehicle was slowed with the assistance of a Mercer County Sheriff's Deputies acting as a moving roadblock. The eluding vehicle attempted to avoid the roadblock, striking a Mercer County Deputy's cruiser. The driver lost control of his vehicle, and wrecked on Bohon Road, Mercer County. The driver of the vehicle was checked at the scene by Mercer County EMS.

The driver, Dallas Corey Crawford, age 38, Russell Springs, KY, was arrested and taken to Lawrenceburg Police Department where he was transported to Shelby County Detention Center. Anderson County Charges include: Fleeing and Evading a Police Officer 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st (3 counts), Assault 3rd, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief 3rd, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, No Seatbelt, and other minor traffic violations. Mercer County Charges include: Speeding 26 mph or Greater over the Limit, Failure to Wear Seat Belt, Fleeing and Evading Police Officer 1st, Wanton Endangerment 1st, Reckless Driving, and other minor traffic violations.

Kentucky State Police was assisted by Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Mercer County EMS, Harrodsburg Police Department, Anderson County Sheriff's Office, Anderson County EMS, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, and Kentucky State Police Richmond Post.
