Lexington Man Arrested After Pursuit

(SHELBYVILLE, KY) -- On May 02, 2013 at 1743 hours, Kentucky State Police were notified by Shelby County Dispatch of a reckless driver on I-64 eastbound near the 32mm. Two Kentucky State Police Units in the area responded to the complaint. Units observed the suspect vehicle, a black 1999 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, being operated in a reckless manner. Units initiated emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, German Gonzalez, age 34, Lexington, KY, refused to stop. The high speed pursuit continued for approximately 16 miles and lasted 11 minutes.
Kentucky State Police deployed a tire deflation device near the I64 48mm eastbound, ultimately rendering the vehicle inoperable. Gonzalez failed to comply with the Troopers verbal commands and was tazed to initiate the arrest.
German Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Speeding 25mph/over, DUI 1st/Aggravator, Fleeing and Evading 1st, Possession of Open Alcohol Container in a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, No Operators License and No Insurance 1st. Gonzalez was lodged in the Shelby County Detention Center.
The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police Frankfort Post.
