Post 12 Trooper and Detective of the Year Awards

(Frankfort, KY) – The Kentucky State Police recently held their annual awards ceremony at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort. Two Troopers from the Frankfort Post received awards.
Trooper First Class Ron Turley was awarded Post 12 Trooper of the Year for his outstanding efforts in community relations and unmatched dedication to the Commonwealth's children. Trooper Turley is a twenty six year veteran of the Kentucky State Police. Trooper Turley has been a D.A.R.E. instructor for over twenty years for schools in the Post 12 area. Additionally in 2012, he completed 352 community service programs.
In the fall of 2012, Trooper Turley raised over $12,000 for Post 12's Shop with a Trooper Campaign. Those funds enabled the Kentucky State Police to provide Christmas gifts to 138 children from 89 different families throughout the Post 12 area.
Over the years, Trooper Turley has been a dedicated advocate for Trooper Island. In 2012, Trooper Turley helped raise over $20,000 through raffle ticket sales and an annual golf tournament to help fund the summer camp for underprivileged children.
Trooper Turley has been involved with many other community services, including the Civilian Academy and Cram the Cruiser Campaign.
Trooper Turley resides in Lexington with his wife Edith.
Detective David "Buck" Brennan received the award for Post 12 Detective of the Year for his outstanding work during 2012. Detective Brennan is an eighteen year veteran of the Kentucky State Police. Detective Brennan continues to provide citizens of the Commonwealth with unparalleled knowledge and experience in the area of criminal investigations.
As Senior Detective at Post 12, Detective Brennan has successfully investigated numerous, unspeakable crimes involving child victims. He has worked closely with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Units to battle child predators.
In December of 2012, Detective Brennan was tasked with the responsibility as Lead Investigator of an Officer Involved Shooting in the Frankfort area.
Throughout 2012, Detective Brennan conducted himself with the highest level of professionalism and integrity in the performance of his duties, to better serve the citizens of the Commonwealth.
Detective Brennan resides in Lexington with his wife Mollie and their three children.
